Build with you career planning and management services, skills workshops and programmes for university students and graduates.
The graduate labour market has changed dramatically and become more global.
However, not all students equally access the careers education, information and guidance available to them, and I know through my first-hand experience of being a careers consultant in Higher Education that this can impact equality of opportunity and outcome. I wanted to do something about this as I believe that everyone should be able to fulfil their full potential in their career, regardless of their background and start in life.
I deliver career planning and management services, skills workshops and programmes for university students and graduates, to help them take informed and impactful action at critical points in their career and education.
These services are designed with you to meet the individual needs of your students and graduates, and can include 1-1 guidance, group coaching, and bespoke workshops and programmes.
These services are designed to help your students and graduates:
Understand their core values and the role they play in their career decisions
Identify their strengths and ways to expand their skills
Explore the wide range of career options available to them, to expand their horizons
Take up opportunities provided by employers, such as insight sessions, work experience and simulations and other initiatives, to build their CV
Make more informed career choices, to increase future career contentment, progression and sustainability.
Here are some examples of build with you services I have provided to universities:
Accelerate women’s development programme
A 6-week personal development programme for undergraduate and postgraduate women and non-binary students, co-designed and facilitated with careers professionals and Careers Student Ambassadors. Designed to address the personal and professional development issues likely to be faced by women at university, to enable them to build on their skills and strengths, make personal and professional connections and prepare for their next steps after graduation.
Women’s Cafe group coaching programme
A group coaching programme designed especially for attendees of the Women’s Cafe, a space focused on community building, self-care, and improving the career prospects of women and non-binary people of colour in the workplace and academia. The programme facilitated self-reflection and self-affirmation as attendees explored what makes up their identity, the lived experiences that contributed to who and where they are now, and began to visualise their future self.
Student Ambassador training
A 3-hour training session focused on professionalism in the workplace and developing public speaking skills. The session explored what professionalism at work practically looks like, through the lens of critical pedagogy, to improve professional etiquette and authenticity. Students also explored top tips on public speaking, which they applied to live group presentations, to increase their levels of confidence and effectiveness in their roles.
Business and report writing and presentation skills training
Two training sessions focused on developing effective and impactful business, report writing and presentation skills, delivered to postgraduate students as part of their experiential learning student consultancy projects. Students explored top tips on writing in business style, and identified key features of report writing, leading to them constructing a report outline for their projects. They also explored top tips on delivering presentations, which they applied to live group presentations and planning for upcoming client presentations.
